Joy Hudgens serves as principal of Bar W Elementary School, bringing more than 20 years of experience in education and a passion for creating a joyful, engaging learning environment where every student is supported and empowered to succeed.

Throughout her career, Hudgens has served as a teacher, instructional specialist, educational support services coordinator, assistant principal, and principal. Her experience includes roles with Leander ISD, Hill Country Christian School of Austin, and other private school academies. Before joining Bar W Elementary, she served Liberty Hill ISD as assistant principal of Santa Rita Elementary School.

Hudgens earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and a Master’s degree in Educational Administration from Concordia University Texas.

“I believe school should be a joyful place where students are engaged in their learning and empowered to reach their full potential,” Hudgens said. “I am a relational leader and truly value the collaboration and innovation of my staff as we work to enhance systems to support learning for all students.”

Hudgens and her husband, Phillip, have four daughters. Outside of school, she enjoys spending time with her family and being outdoors, especially at the lake, beach, or mountains.

As principal, Hudgens is committed to partnering with students, staff, and families to continue Building Champions in Academics, Character, and Community at Bar W Elementary.

Angie de los Santos serves as assistant principal of Bar W Elementary School, bringing more than 20 years of experience in education and a strong commitment to building relationships and creating engaging learning environments for students.

A Houston native, de los Santos spent 20 years as an elementary classroom teacher before transitioning into school administration. She was part of the team that helped open Bar W Elementary and has continued serving the campus community as assistant principal.

De los Santos earned her bachelor's degree from Sam Houston State University and her master's degree from Texas State University.

“Building relationships and creating a fun and innovative learning environment for all students are what I value most,” de los Santos said. “We have an incredible community of families, and it is an honor to serve alongside such a wonderful staff.”

Her connection to Bar W also extends to her family, with her two children, Joaquin and Olivia, attending the school. Outside of school, de los Santos enjoys running, attending live music events, cheering on Austin FC, and spending time with family and friends.
